Training
Obedience training is a necessity to allow a dog to live comfortably in a civilization that is foreign to the dog's nature. While some individuals can accomplish the necessary training on their own, a training class with the guidance of an instructor is the better choice for many. At The Pet Spa at Twin City, our philosophy is that training can be pleasant for both dog and owner. We utilize positive motivational methods that almost all dogs and owners find effective and non-threatening. Methods are adjusted to the needs of your dog.

The beginner level class, which is limited to 6 dogs who are 12 weeks of age or older, meets once a week for eight weeks, developing a solid foundation in the skills of the basic commands, including walking nicely on a leash. Heeling is introduced in the last few weeks of the course.

The advanced beginner class is held weekly, furthering the basic skills and developing solid obedience to the basic commands even in the face of distractions. Additionally, some retrieving and jumping is introduced to prevent boredom in dog and owner. Once a month the class features canine freestyle (dancing with your dog) as an additional means of instilling obedience while having fun.
